Worldclass Combo has played hundreds of weddings, company parties, receptions and was seen almost daily during the 2002 Olympics at several venues. They have performed all over Utah in most main hotels, ski lodges, festivals, restaurants, many times at U of U, BYU, Weber State, Westminster, Salt Lake Community College and many main local festivals. They have played in Nevada, Idaho, California and other states. The leader has played for 6 years in the 1960s in France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, and Italy plus 7 years in the 70s in the Middle East.
Worldclass Combo plays cool, dreamy, hot, swingjive and Latin jazz as well as old-time New Orleans and Chicago plus styles in between; mostly favorite standards from the 40s and 50s. The format can be a trio of piano, bass and drums, a quartet adding sax or trumpet, a quintet with trumpet and sax using the excellent scores of the winner of the Intercollegiate Jazz Festival three consecutive years in the 60s and the winner of the national Sounds of Young America Composer’s contest. With the addition of trombone, the sextet sounds like a bigger band and all configurations can include a vocalist.
